Asahi Kuromine (黒峰 朝陽, Kuromine Asahi) is the main protagonist of the Jitsu wa Watashi wa series.
He is a second-year high school student who has trouble keeping secrets, earning him the nickname of "ana no aita zaru" (A bag full of holes), or "anazaru" for short. One day, he discovers that his crush, Youko Shiragami, is secretly a vampire and, as a result, must try to keep her secret to avoid her having to leave school.

Personality[]
Asahi is best described as an honest, kind-hearted coward that cannot hide his emotions. He also often fails to keep other people's secrets, hence earning him the nickname "anazaru". Throughout the series, he shows growth through becoming brave and that despite the temptation, he can keep the secrets his peers entrust him with.

Asahi comes from a regular human family, however being unique in that he is one of the few humans who accept non-human people at first sight.
Plot[]
After discovering Youko Shiragami's secret, Asahi desires to help her through high school life, and to make it as enjoyable as possible by hiding her identity at all costs. This leads to him discovering that his school is filled with other non-human students, and he finds the need to protect them all. After an encounter with time travelers, he tries to find a way to fix the tragedy of the future, and forge a path to allow humans and non-humans to coexist.

Youko Shiragami[]
Asahi is seen having a crush on Youko in the beginning of the series (2nd year). Throughout the story, their relationship grows closer till the point where he confessed his feeling for her in chapter 85. Youko later confessed her feelings in chapter 86 thus making them a couple. They later conceived a child by accident after Youko drank his blood, unaware this is the same as sexual intercourse for vampires (true for some ancient type bloodline). They later became engaged after Genjirou Shiragami tries to take Youko away when her identity is revealed to the school. In altertenative future after Youko's disapearance, he dropped out school and never marry to anyone. Raising his and Youko's daughter all alone. Alternative future in the end didn't come to pass bacause Asahi prevented it from happening.

Asahi confessed to her pre-series and was rejected however they now seem to be friends after his subsequent discovery and promises to protect her secret which Youko had also learned. She later is shown to have a crush on Asahi after realizing that he was doing everything in his power to keep her secret safe.
Mikan Akemi[]
Mikan is Asahi's childhood friend who has a secret crush on him. She is very possessive and protective (not since that God appeared) of a gift (a pair of glasses which later got possessed by a Fortune God) given to her by Asahi when they were younger.

Shiho considers him to be the main object for all her lewd actions which is a way to train in order to beat her mother- The charismatic pervert, triggering Asahi's nose bleed fountain multiple times.

Genjirou is Asahi's father-in-law who hates him from the beginning. However, after the event of traveling to the past, his view towards Asahi changed, trusting him the most without saying it out loud.

Etymology[]
- The name Asahi means "morning" (朝) (asa) and "light, sun, male" (陽) (hi).
- Asahi's surname Kuromine means "black" (黒) (kuro) and "peak, ridge" (峰) (mine).
